Mirziyoyev Meets UAE Delegation to Discuss Energy Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 December, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan received a delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led by Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei.
The meeting also included executives from UAE companies Masdar — Muhammad Jamil Al Ramahi, Etihad Water & Electricity — Yousif Al Ali, and TAQA Water Solutions — Ahmad Al Shamsi.
During the meeting, the UAE Minister conveyed warm greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dubai Prime Minister and Emir Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Sheikh Mansour Al Nahyan, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid Al Nahyan.
The sides discussed strengthening Uzbek-UAE friendship and strategic partnership, noting dynamic cooperation across all sectors, steady growth in trade turnover, an increase in joint ventures, and more frequent flights. The portfolio of joint projects has reached US$20 billion.
Special attention was given to projects in transport and logistics, food industry, mining and metallurgy, energy, and other priority sectors.
In the energy sector, Masdar has implemented six projects across various regions of Uzbekistan, totaling US$1.5 billion. In Bukhara region, a new solar power plant and energy storage system were commissioned, while construction of similar facilities exceeding US$600 million began in Kashkadarya region.
Executives of UAE companies also briefed the President on plans to build wind power plants, energy storage capacities, hydroelectric facilities, and modern wastewater treatment plants.
