Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the ongoing construction of the Al-Khwarizmi Innovation Town near the Urgench International Airport.

Since the groundbreaking in August 2022, over 130 hectares of land have been developed, with 72 multi-apartment buildings completed, totaling 1,773 residential units. In 2025, the construction of an additional 28 buildings, providing 1,000 more apartments, is planned. Overall, the town will feature over 5,000 residential units.

Special attention is being given to landscaping. A 20-hectare park will be constructed in the town center, with a monument to Al-Khwarizmi standing more than 30 meters tall at the entrance. The President reviewed the monument’s concept and tasked officials with refining its architectural and symbolic aspects, as well as expanding the green spaces.

Additionally, a decree was signed for the establishment of the Al-Khwarizmi University and a specialized school. The university will offer three faculties: Mathematics and Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. The educational process will be organized in collaboration with universities from the UAE, China, and the UK. Student enrollment will begin in the 2025–2026 academic year, with an expected student body of 4,000–6,000.

A branch of the Tashkent School named after Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi will also be created, where high school students will receive initial engineering training.

The town will feature a technopark, office buildings, medical and cultural facilities, schools, kindergartens, sports complexes, and other elements of modern urban infrastructure.
