Mirziyoyev: A free trade and industrial zone to appear between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A free trade and industrial zone will be established between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, which will contribute to the development of the Andijan region. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the region.
The head of state emphasized the importance of creating free trade and industrial zones in the Kurghantepa or Khojaabad districts, as well as on the border with Afghanistan. Responsible officials have been tasked with determining the optimal location after consultations with entrepreneurs and starting the development of a master plan.
The meeting also addressed the issue of congestion at the "Dustlik" border checkpoint in Khojaabad.
Mirziyoyev instructed the authorities to quickly identify the causes of traffic jams and propose specific solutions.
The president noted that the export volume from the Andijan region to Kyrgyzstan reaches $200 million annually. In this regard, he emphasized the need to create a special zone that will stimulate trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
