MIPT and IFC Agree on New Areas of Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 8 September, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held a meeting with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led by Regional Director for Türkiye and Central Asia Wiebke Schloemer. The parties reviewed the results of their joint work and outlined new directions for cooperation.
Wiebke Schloemer noted that the reforms under way in Uzbekistan are distinguished by their openness and focus on creating a favorable investment climate. Among the key achievements, she highlighted the first transaction to attract an investor for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant under the Scaling Solar program, which has since served as a benchmark for subsequent energy projects.
The meeting also addressed the prospects for developing public-private partnerships in healthcare, education, and energy. Participants emphasized IFC’s important role in strengthening the private sector by providing access to financing, advisory support, and assistance in improving the regulatory framework.
Special attention was given to joint efforts aimed at enhancing investment legislation and strengthening the financial management capacity of national companies, enabling them to enter international capital markets. The parties also expressed interest in further developing the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of Uzbekistan and expanding IFC’s participation in its activities.
