Ministry of Justice Registers New Regulation on Autologous Blood Donation in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Justice has registered a new Regulation governing the donation of blood and its components for subsequent use by the donor themselves (autologous donation).
The regulation establishes the use of autologous donation in cases where a patient cannot receive allogeneic blood, has a rare blood type, or when the donor or their legal representative refuses the transfusion of another person’s blood.
Blood donation under this framework is carried out free of charge at medical institutions where the surgical procedure is planned, based on the donor’s or their legal representative’s written consent. Prior to the procedure, the blood undergoes laboratory testing.
Autologous donation may be performed up to 30 days before surgery, 1–2 hours prior to the operation, or during the surgical procedure itself, provided there is prior written consent from the donor.
The procedure is prohibited if the donor tests positive for HIV, hepatitis B or C markers, syphilis, or if their hematocrit level is below 25 percent.
