Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan called on citizens to change expired biometric passports for identification cards in time.

The agency recalled that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan is gradually exchanging biometric passports for identification ID cards.

In accordance with Article 223 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility, the residence of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan without a passport or identification ID card or with an invalid passport envisages or an administrative penalty.

“In this regard, we ask citizens whose biometric passports have expired to exchange them for identification ID cards in a timely manner,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes.
