Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has published recommendations to the population in connection with the dusty haze observed in some regions of the country since Thursday.
Director of the Republican Scientific and Specialized Allergy Center, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ilmira Razikova noted that in such a situation, if possible, it is worth avoiding being outdoors, especially for people with diseases such as bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, cough accompanied by perspiration in the throat, bronchitis, bronchial hyperreactivity and other chronic respiratory diseases.
In addition to dust, such air may contain plant dust and fungal spores in high concentration. Therefore, people with these diseases may need to increase the dosage of the medications they take. But this can only be done after consulting a doctor.
Ilmira Razikova noted that it is necessary to rinse the throat and nose with slightly salted water. At the same time, the rooms must be kept closed, wet towels must be hung in the rooms, and large containers with water must be placed.
Outdoors, the public is advised to wear a face mask and change it every two hours. Children, pregnant women and the elderly also need special care in such conditions.
Razikova said that if symptoms such as shortness of breath, nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, itching and redness of the eyes, severe sore throat, cough with sore throat appear due to dust, you should consult an allergist.
According to her, on 4 November, the number of ambulance calls was 649 more than the day before (4082 versus 3433), and 678 calls were associated with shortness of breath. Ambulance teams provided first aid to these patients, some of them were hospitalized.
