Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 27 January 2023, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.

Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed deep condolences to the Azerbaijani side in connection with the armed attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran.

The hope was expressed that following a thorough investigation of this incident, all those responsible will be brought to justice.

According to Gazeta.ru, the attack took place on the morning of 27 JanuaryA, around 8:30 am Baku time (7:30 Moscow time).

“The attacker, armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, broke through the security post and killed the head of the security service. Two security guards were wounded during the repulse of the attack. Their condition is assessed as satisfactory,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, an investigation into the attack is currently underway.
