Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the five months of 2022, five new thermal power plants (TPPs) with a total capacity of 1,154 MW and one solar photovoltaic station (PVP) with a capacity of 100 MW were put into operation in Uzbekistan.
These six power plants together generate 9.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
At the same time, equipping new power plants with energy-saving equipment will save 1 billion 353 million cubic meters of natural gas per year - compared to the volume of natural gas that is needed to generate the same amount of electricity for stations built earlier.
The six stations commissioned in January-May 2022 include:
Gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW built in Bukhara district of Bukhara region;
Combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 240 MW in Kibray district of Tashkent region;
Thermal power plant with a capacity of 174 MW in Yangiaryk district of Khorezm region;
Gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 230 MW in Kibray district of Tashkent region;
Modern thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW in Kibray district of Tashkent region;
Solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts, put into operation in Nurabad district of Samarkand region.
During the construction of new power plants, 3260 jobs were created, as a result of their commissioning - 445 new jobs.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, by the end of this year, another new thermal power plant with a capacity of 220 MW is planned to be put into operation in Khavas district of Syrdarya region, which will be the seventh new power plant launched in 2022.
