Ministry of Energy: a tender started for a project for the construction of a solar photovoltaic station in Guzar district

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the start of a tender stage (Request for prequalification (RFQ)) for independent electricity producers (development investors) for the construction project of the Guzar solar photovoltaic station (PVP) with a capacity of up to 300 MW.

This project is the second in the framework of the Program for the construction of solar photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 1 GW, which is being implemented by the Government of Uzbekistan with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The program is implemented by the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the Agency for the Development of Public-Private Partnerships and the Ministry of Finance of the country.

This program is one of the key components of the Strategy for the development of the use of renewable energy sources and the production of up to 7 GW of clean solar energy in the country by 2030 to meet the growing demand for electricity.

The winning bidder is expected to design, finance, operate and maintain a solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of up to 300 MW AC in Guzar district of Kashkadarya region for 25 years.

As part of the project, the developer investor will also have to build a power line to the nearby 500 kV Guzar substation.

The project will be implemented in accordance with international best practice, which was applied in the first project under the joint program with ADB - the construction of the Sherabad solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 457 MW.

The project is being implemented according to the internationally recognized model of public-private partnership (PPP), with the aim of attracting and selecting a qualified private investor-developer.
