Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11-15 April 2022, a delegation of the International Energy Agency (IEA) conducted the second stage of an in-depth review of the energy policy of Uzbekistan.
The IEA is an autonomous international body within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It acts as a consulting organization to promote international cooperation in the field of improving the global structure of supply and demand for energy resources and energy services.
In the international as well as investment communities, the annual general energy and industry reports of the IEA are recognized.
As part of the EU4Energy program, the IEA is implementing a program focused on the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia, including Uzbekistan. The purpose of the program is to support the implementation of sustainable energy policy.
An in-depth review of the energy policy of Uzbekistan is being conducted by the IEA in three stages and is being implemented under the leadership of the Government of the country.
During their stay in Tashkent, the IEA delegation held informal meetings with representatives of state bodies, departments, as well as companies, during which certain issues in the field of energy were discussed. 70 representatives from 24 ministries, departments and enterprises took part in the discussion on 14 topics.
As a result of the meetings, the IEA mission presented to the Ministry of Energy and the State Committee for Statistics a draft report on the available data. The recommendations, developed by an international analytical group, are designed to assist the Government of the country in better assessing data and policies in the field of energy. The report will also provide potential investors with a broad opportunity to familiarize themselves with macroeconomic trends and issues in the energy sector.
Based on the results, it is planned to start work on the final recommendations, the release of which is scheduled for July 2022.
