Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Five new thermal power plants with a total capacity of 1,154 MW were commissioned in the first 3 months of 2022 in three regions of the country. This work is carried out as part of the implementation of the relevant resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
All these projects worth US$705 million were implemented by Turkish companies Aksa Enerji, Odaş Enerji CA and Cengiz Enerji.
Including:
The 1st gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW was built in Bukhara district of Bukhara region;
The 2nd combined cycle plant with a capacity of 240 MW was put into operation in Kibray district of Tashkent region;
The 3rd new thermal power plant with a capacity of 174 MW is located in Yangiaryk district of Khorezm region;
The 4th gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 230 MW was commissioned in Kibrai district of Tashkent region;
The 5th modern thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW was put into operation in Kibrai district of Tashkent region.
Together, these 5 power plants generate 9.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. Equipping them with energy-saving devices will save 1 billion 275 million cubic meters of natural gas per year, which is enough to produce an additional 6 billion 144 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
During the construction of these TPPs, 2860 jobs were created, as a result of their commissioning - 420 new jobs.
In April this year, a large solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 100 MW will be put into operation in Nurabad district of Samarkand region, which will be the sixth station commissioned since the beginning of this year.
