The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of establishing links with the migration and border services of the two countries, possible conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on readmission, exchange of experience in the field of managing migration processes and implementing measures to strengthen the migration service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Nizomov said that the country is currently paying much attention to the country’s socio-economic development, including issues of establishing bilateral cooperation in the field of labor migration with foreign countries.
He said that fruitful cooperation was established with the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Japan. Uzbekistan is also establishing cooperation in the sphere of labor migration with the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Turkey. The draft intergovernmental agreement with the Republic of Poland was worked out by the Uzbek side and submitted to the Polish side for consideration.
Representatives of the Border Guard Service of Poland said that they are very interested in cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan, because the Border Guard Service deals with migration issues. The service is engaged in migration control and labor control of foreigners in Poland.
According to the Polish Border Guard Service, more than 13,700 citizens from Uzbekistan officially reside on the territory of the European Union in 2016. More than 2,272 citizens of Uzbekistan officially reside in the Czech Republic, about 2,000 in the Republic of Poland, 1,900 in Sweden, in Latvia about 1,500 people and about 1,300 in Italy.
During the meeting, the parties decided that it is necessary to develop a joint action plan for further expansion of cooperation in the field of labor migration.
