Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan commented on the proposal to transfer the regional divisions of the ministry to the structure of local khokimiyats.
This proposal is contained in the draft presidential decree "On additional measures to increase the responsibility of the executive authorities of the republic and local khokimiyats." The document was published in the project.gov.uz system for agreement with the relevant departments.
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education stated that the document is a draft and has no official force.
At the same time, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education noted that the department raised objections to the relevant paragraphs of the draft decree and held negotiations with the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
The ministry noted that there are no grounds for concern about the possible transfer of the territorial divisions of the ministry to the khokimiyats.
At the end of 2022, at a meeting with teachers, the President of Uzbekistan proposed to liquidate the district and regional departments of public education.
“For you, districts and regional educational departments are like prosecutors. I want to abolish these two organizations, the schools themselves should be both districts and regional educational departments. What are the extra links for? Because of them, the teacher cannot take a single step. It’s time to break it," the President said at the time.
“Of course, order is needed, but there is a ministry for this. We still have the old system. But in fact, the school itself should indicate the city administration,” the head of state added.
