Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In Uzbekistan, the minimum consumer spending of the population per month is 440,000 soums per person, the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
The department noted that in order to calculate the minimum consumer spending, with the support of the World Bank, a survey was conducted in 5,400 households selected from all regions of the republic in 2020.
At the same time, the households participating in the survey were divided into ten groups according to the size of expenditures, and 30 percent of the households with the lowest expenditures (incomes) were identified from these families.
Based on the data obtained as a result of the survey, the Minimum consumer spending for the necessary daily consumption of food (2,200 kcal), non-food goods and services per month made up 440,000 soums per person (taking into account the price changes in the current year).
The ratio of the calculated minimum consumer spending to GDP per capita is 26.8 percent, in developing countries it is mainly 4-20 percent.
In order to complete the experiment on calculating the minimum consumer spending in 2021, the State Statistics Committee, together with the World Bank, will conduct a survey of 10 thousand households.
Based on the results of these polls, it is planned to approve the methodology for calculating the minimum consumer spending by the end of this year and publish its recalculated amount.
