Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Scheduled exercises to bring troops to combat readiness have begun in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
It should be noted that the military exercises are taking place against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan. Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported that on 23 June , 53 soldiers of the Afghan border troops and local militia fighters with weapons crossed into Uzbekistan in the area of Shortepa district.
According to the Ministry of Defense, under the leadership of Defense Minister Bakhodir Kurbanov, surprise checks are being carried out in the Tashkent and South-Western Special Military Districts, as well as in military units and branches of the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force (Air Force) of Uzbekistan. As part of the checks, the readiness of personnel and military equipment will be checked.
In addition, the exercises will be held on the territory of the Angren and Termez combined-arms training grounds, where military units will practice joint military operations.
In the course of tactical exercises, the actions of personnel are checked, the possibility of strengthening protection in a given direction, and the ability to fulfill the assigned tasks of combat training.
As part of the exercise, the military will have to locate a mock enemy and strike using air and artillery units, as well as a battery of mortars.
