Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is successfully moving towards creating a modern, open, free, socially-oriented, prosperous society. This point of view was expressed by the director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) Mikhail Fradkov, addressing the participants of the international round table on the topic “Message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Parliament: a program for further transformation of Uzbekistan”.

In an event organized by ISMI together with the representative office of the. K. Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia, more than 30 experts of "think tanks" from 20 countries of Europe, CIS, Central and Southeast Asia took part.

As M. Fradkov noted, a careful analysis of the content of the message of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis allows us to conclude that the new large-scale tasks presented by the Head of Uzbekistan consistently complement and deepen the previously adopted strategic programs of fundamental transformations in all spheres of the state’s activity.

The director of RISS stressed that the message formulated the key directions for the further development of the economy, financial and banking spheres, improving social and domestic policies. At the same time, in his opinion, it is especially important that all this is done with an emphasis on increasing the level of material well-being of the people, increasing the attention of the authorities to the problems of various strata and categories of the population, caring for the health and education of the nation, and educating young people.

A representative of a leading Russian think tank expressed confidence that despite the current difficult international situation, the pandemic and the global crisis, the implementation of the plans and serious innovative approaches will ensure the further successful movement of the people of Uzbekistan towards the creation of a modern, open, free, socially-oriented prosperous society. Will increase the weight and authority of the republic in the world.

M. Fradkov emphasized a noticeable improvement in macroeconomic stability, the preservation of positive growth rates of the gross domestic product by the end of 2020, the establishment of the leadership of Uzbekistan to bring this indicator to a level of at least 5% in 2021, the development of public private partnerships, and the attraction of significant investments in a number of sectors. economy, reducing the budget deficit.

The head of RISS paid special attention to the decisive plans of President Sh.Mirziyoyev to accelerate structural transformations in industry and the agro-industrial complex, build new production chains, ensure food security, improve the quality of human potential, and improve the entire system of governing bodies.

He expressed confidence that the reform of large enterprises in the electric power, metallurgical, petrochemical and mechanical engineering industries, initiated by the President, would turn them into drivers of the national economy, along with successfully functioning pharmaceutical, construction, textile, leather and footwear industries.

Fradkov also called the plans for the development of investments in the amount of 23 billion US dollars in 2021, the commissioning of 226 large industrial and infrastructure facilities with a further decrease in the participation of the state in investment policy.

The director of RISS noted with satisfaction the consistent increase in the status of Uzbekistan in the world arena, the growth of its authority in leading international organizations, in the space of Central Asia. They expressed confidence that the experience of Uzbekistan’s first successful chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States will allow energetically and constructively to lead in 2021-2022. work in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as its chairman.

In conclusion of his address, Mikhail Fradkov welcomed the commitment of the leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop comprehensive friendly relations with the Russian Federation, as well as with China, the states of Central Asia and other countries. They expressed hope for the further strengthening of multifaceted bilateral cooperation, as well as the readiness of the Russian side to continue to provide fraternal practical assistance to Uzbekistan in the health sector, especially in the context of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
