MGIMO and the Institute for Legislation and Legal Policy sign memorandum of cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 April, a memorandum of cooperation was signed in Tashkent between the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and the Institute for Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of MGIMO by the Dean of the Faculty of International Law, Nikolai Molchakov, and on behalf of the Institute by its Director, Doctor of Law and Professor Mir-Akbar Rakhmankulov.
Under the terms of the memorandum, the parties agreed to develop a partnership across a broad range of areas. Key priorities include joint scientific research in constitutional law, state-building, legal policy, international and comparative law, private international and civil law, as well as the legal framework of public administration, law-making, and law enforcement practices.
The parties also intend to organize academic conferences and other practice-oriented events, engage experts in research, analytical, and educational initiatives—including expert reviews of draft legal acts—and participate in the implementation of MGIMO-Tashkent educational programs. The memorandum also outlines plans for joint scientific and practical internships, as well as mutual participation in the evaluation and peer review of PhD and doctoral dissertations.
During the signing ceremony, Nikolai Molchakov and Mir-Akbar Rakhmankulov discussed potential areas of cooperation and agreed to develop a roadmap for the implementation of joint projects.
The event was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Institute for Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
