Methane Fuel Stations in Uzbekistan Serve Only Public Transport
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On Thursday, 12 March, restrictions on the operation of automobile gas-filling compressor stations (AGNS) in Uzbekistan will be tightened, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported.
According to the ministry, methane fuel stations will operate exclusively for public transport and vehicles servicing social institutions.
The decision is linked to a reduction in gas pressure in the main pipelines. Priority for natural gas supply is traditionally given to the population and social facilities.
Specialists are taking measures to restore pressure in the main gas pipelines. Meanwhile, volumes of automotive gasoline and liquefied gas (propane) offered in auctions are being increased to provide alternative fuel for transport.
The Ministry of Energy also urged private gas station owners to avoid artificially raising prices, ensure fuel quality, and maintain sufficient fuel availability.
Authorized agencies are intensifying monitoring to prevent violations in the fuel market.
