Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 27 May 2021, a press meeting was held in Tashkent dedicated to the start of the II Architectural show-competition ME’MOR // 2021 and brought together media representatives from four cities of Uzbekistan - Tashkent, Ferghana, Bukhara and Nukus.

The purpose of the competition is to identify and encourage the best works in the field of architecture and urban planning, created by the citizens of Uzbekistan for the period 2019 - 2021.

According to the general recognition of experts from different countries, competitions in architecture and urban planning are the most effective way to select the best architectural and urban planning solutions. By creating a climate of healthy creative competition, competitions are an effective incentive to increase the creative activity of architects and urban planners and the most effective way to identify young talented professionals.

The organizer of the open competition is the FE LLC "KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA" with the support of the Union of Architects of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The competition is held for architects, interior designers, landscape designers, students of specialized universities and journalists. 

The main objectives of the competition are to popularize professional achievements in the field of sustainable architecture, to stimulate the activities of architects and designers to create the most successful architectural projects, to promote advanced energy-efficient building technologies and materials with a minimum negative impact on the environment.

The prize fund is 160 million soums.

During a press meeting, Dmitry Deripalko, General Director of FE LLC "KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA", and Deputy Chairman of the Union of Architects of Uzbekistan, Asomiddin Tadjiev, shared their views on the state of modern architecture in Uzbekistan with journalists. Director of the Tashkent branch of FE KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA LLC Shukhrat Abdujamilov told the audience about the results of the architectural review-competition of 2019 ME’MOR // 2019 and revealed the idea, the composition of the jury and the conditions for holding ME’MOR // 2021. The curator of the MEMOR // 2021 review competition Sergey Tumanin made a presentation on the basic principles of creating and developing sustainable architecture.

“The main theme of the Memor // 2021 competition is Sustainable Architecture - A Conscious Approach to Urban Development. The KNAUF company pays great attention to the development of energy efficient technologies and the production of environmentally friendly building materials, and this is the main indicator of the sustainability of architecture,” said Dmitry Deripalko, General Director of FE LLC KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA.

The jury of the competition includes international experts in the field of architecture and design: Academician of the International Academy of Architecture, head of the group for the design of master plans for the development of cities in Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Magdiev, chairman of the Moscow Architectural Society Boris Uborevich-Borovsky, expert of the European Union prize in the field of modern architecture Oleg Drozdov , curator of the Exhibition of International Architecture and Design ArchMoscow and the Moscow Biennale of Architecture Bart Goldhoorn; author of international projects and laureate of the Israel Contractors Association award for the best layout of a residential complex Pavel Ustinov. The chairman of the jury is Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova, curator of the Public Spaces Development Program and advisor to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
