Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Members of an independent commission on investigation of events in Nukus visited pre-trial detention center No. 11 in Urgench, Khorezm region, where they studied living conditions, food, access to medical care and premises for short-term meetings with lawyers and close relatives of detainees.

Persons held in custody in the pre-trial detention center were also interviewed. In particular, members of the Commission met with Dauletmurat Tajimuratov, who was arrested as a suspect in the events and incidents that had taken place. During the meeting, Dauletmurat Tajimuratov said that he was provided with a lawyer, that he was not prevented from meeting with a lawyer, he also had a short meeting with family members and received parcels and parcels.

According to Dauletmurat Tajimuratov, during the investigative actions and in the pre-trial detention center, there were no tortures, pressure or harassment against him. He stated that he did not object to the quality of food and other conditions of detention in the isolation ward.

During the visit, members of the commission testified that the rights of the suspects were not violated during their detention in the pre-trial detention center and during the investigation, and cases of mental and physical torture were not allowed.
