Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22-23 October 2020, meetings of the working bodies of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly were held. Members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the videoconferencing.
Thus, Erkin Gadoev, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Budget and Economic Reforms, participated in a meeting of the Control and Budget Commission. The subject of discussion was a set of issues related to the financial provision of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
The members of the commission exchanged information on the adoption in the member states of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly of laws on the state budget for the next planning period. Views were expressed on the draft decisions of the IPA CIS Council concerning the financial aspects of the activity. Also, draft regulations in this direction were considered.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Judicial-Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption Shukhrat Chulliev took part in a meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues.
The members of the commission reviewed the draft model laws “On compensation for harm caused to citizens who have suffered from crimes”, “On investment and trust banking”, “On insurance”, “On appraisal activities”, “On contract law (general provisions)”. They also discussed changes and additions to the Regulations on the Standing Committees of the Interparliamentary Assembly. Information on the results of work in 2019 was heard.
An interested exchange of views took place on the results of the regular meetings of the Expert Council under the IPA CIS Standing Commission on Legal Issues, held in 2020. In addition, decisions were made on the proposals developed by the council.
Riskul Siddikov, a member of the Committee on Agrarian, Water Management and Ecology, participated in the meeting of the Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology. At the beginning of the work, the parliamentarians elected the deputy chairmen of the standing commission.
The meeting continued with a discussion of the draft model law "On Elimination of Accumulated Environmental Damage". It was noted that this bill was included in the Perspective Plan of Model Lawmaking for 2020-2022. It is aimed at improving the national legal framework in the CIS member states in order to reduce the volume of pollution accumulated in their territories as a result of past economic and other activities.
The parliamentarians also approved the draft model laws "On the development and protection of mountainous territories", as well as "On state information systems in the field of environmental protection, nature management and environmental safety."
Also, a meeting of the Expert Council on Healthcare at the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly took place, in which specialists from the Senate of the Oliy Majlis took part. The event was dedicated to the issues of ensuring the biosafety of the CIS member states in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and influenza.
It was noted that the experience accumulated in the CIS countries can and should be fully used in our states. After all, the exchange of knowledge and the application of the best world practices of modern medicine is the basis for improving health systems in all countries of the Commonwealth.
In addition, the council members heard information on the activities of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to assist the most vulnerable people in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic in the European Region, on the specifics of public health management in the aftermath of the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic and a number of other health problems.
