Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, organized a meeting in Tashkent with representatives of Chinese business and investment circles operating in Uzbekistan.
It was announced that thanks to the support of the state, constant dialogue and the desire to quickly resolve the issues that arise among partners, investor confidence is growing, and the investment climate is improving. Thus, over the past five years, the number of enterprises with the participation of Chinese capital in Uzbekistan has increased significantly. In particular, if in 2017 there were 870 such enterprises, today the number is close to 2 thousand. Investments of Chinese business in the economy of Uzbekistan reached US$9 billion.
The dialogue was informal. The goal was to discuss in a confidential atmosphere the problems faced by businessmen and, right on the spot, develop optimal mechanisms for solving them, and also, on the basis of the proposals made, to consider promising areas for strengthening the position of Chinese capital in the Uzbek market
The meeting was attended by representatives of more than 20 Chinese companies operating in Uzbekistan. Among them are such large ones as ZTE Corporation, Asia Trans Gas, China Construction, Shanghai Construction. Entrepreneurs presented a brief overview of their activities, talked about implemented and ongoing projects, plans for the near future, as well as the problems they face in practice. For the most part, investors were interested in issues in the field of taxation, customs procedures and infrastructure provision. For each issue raised by investors during the meeting, solutions were found and responsible departments were identified.
As a result of the meeting, the effectiveness of this format of dialogue was noted and a decision was made to make such meetings regular.
