Meeting takes place at the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography named after Akhmad Donish of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 2 June, within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the director of the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) Anvar Nasirov in Dushanbe, a meeting was held with the director of the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography named after Akhmad Donish of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan Ubaydullo Nasrullo Karimzoda.

The parties stressed the importance of establishing close academic ties, as well as building up interaction between scientific and expert circles in areas of mutual interest.

The participants in the meeting agreed to conduct joint scientific research on the history, archeology and ethnography of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, develop common approaches to the history of Central Asia in order to broadly bring to the younger generation and the world community the rich historical and cultural heritage of the two peoples.

The meeting participants also considered the possibilities of holding joint events both in a bilateral and multilateral format with the involvement of partners from all countries of Central Asia.

Following the meeting, an Agreement on Cooperation was signed and an agreement was reached on the preparation of a Road Map on its basis, which includes specific mechanisms of interaction.

The Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography was founded in 1951 and is a research institution within the structure of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

The main goal is to study the history of the first state formations of the Tajik people; ethnogenesis and ethnic history of the Tajik people.
