Medical care centers are being created for people who are in a state of intoxication

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential resolution “On additional measures to further improve the system of drug treatment for the population” was adopted.

In accordance with the resolution, the internal affairs bodies were granted the right to prepare and execute documents for referral, on their own initiative, for compulsory treatment of persons suffering from drug addiction.

From 1 January 2023:

- carrying out all medical examinations for referral to compulsory treatment of persons suffering from drug addiction will be carried out in drug treatment dispensaries, and, if necessary, in other institutions;

- it will be possible to obtain data on beds available in narcological dispensaries in real time.

Cases on referral to compulsory treatment of persons suffering from narcological diseases can be submitted to the courts electronically and considered by the courts via videoconferencing.

From 1 January 2023, the positions of a medical psychologist or psychotherapist will be introduced in outpatient and inpatient departments of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Narcology and its territorial branches.

According to the resolution, as part of the district (city) medical associations of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent, inter-district points for providing medical care to persons in a state of intoxication will be created for at least 10 beds (in 2022 - 114 beds, in 2023-2024 - 20 beds).

Also, by the end of 2022, an additional 430 places will be created in narcological dispensaries for voluntary and mandatory treatment of narcological patients.
