Measures to develop the transport and logistics system approved in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a resolution "On Measures for the Further Development of the Transport and Logistics System of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

As part of this document, the concept for the development of Uzbekistan's transport and logistics infrastructure until 2030 was approved, along with a "roadmap" for its implementation.

The decree sets out key target indicators, including a significant increase in international freight traffic by road, rail, and air transport, aiming to double the volume at a minimum.

It also calls for the doubling of exports of transport and logistics services, increasing the share of container transportation by at least 50%, and improving Uzbekistan's position in the World Bank Logistics Performance Index, which should rank no lower than 55th place.

Additionally, the decree introduces important changes in the organization of international freight transportation, including the application of a zero VAT rate for transport and forwarding services.

From June 1, 2025, an electronic queuing system for road transport vehicles will be implemented at the automobile checkpoints on the state border.

In cooperation with the International Road Transport Union, plans are underway to create a regional training center focused on personnel training and professional development in international road transport.

Furthermore, new roadside service facilities such as Service Areas and Service Points will be built along public highways to improve the quality of service for drivers.
