Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 January, on the eve of the twenty-third plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, a meeting of the Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports was held. It discussed a number of issues.
The meeting was attended by members of the Government, senior officials of ministries and departments, experts, members of the Youth Parliament and representatives of the media.
First, the essence and significance of the issues to be discussed on the agenda of the plenary session of the Senate were briefly explained. After that, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the introduction of amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the strengthening of the protection of objects of material cultural heritage” was preliminary considered.
During the discussion, the senators drew attention to the need to adopt this Law and its benefits to the state and society.
The document was developed by the Prosecutor General's Office with the aim of legally solving the problems existing in this area. The law envisages increased liability for the destruction, destruction or damage of objects of material cultural heritage, the transfer to the category of serious crimes of acts that cause significant damage to objects of this category, the imposition of the preliminary investigation on the prosecutor's office, the establishment of responsibility for failure to comply within the established time limits instructions and submissions of the Cultural Heritage Agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The Law also stipulates the introduction of appropriate amendments and additions to the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Code of Administrative Responsibility. In particular, liability for causing harm to objects of material cultural heritage is being tightened.
The senators noted that the approval of this Law is important for the preservation of the material cultural heritage of our country, objects and territories included in the World Heritage List, preserving their uniqueness, and passing them on to future generations.
During the meeting, information was heard from representatives of the Government on the implementation of the State Program for the implementation of the Action Strategy in five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 in the “Year of Supporting Youth and Improving Public Health”.
An exchange of views took place regarding the State Program for Employment and Vocational Training of Youth, information was presented on the results of a study conducted by the Committee in Navoi region.
The Chairman of the Committee gave detailed information on the report of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on youth, culture and sports on activities in 2020-2021.
Based on the results of the discussion, the relevant decision of the Committee was adopted.
