Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Belarus intends to make a positive contribution to the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei told journalists on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand, BelTA has learned.
The minister noted that the President of Belarus had a meeting with the SCO Secretary General in Samarkand. Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus is ready to become a full member of the organization "not empty-handed."
“We are at a strategic crossroads. We are ready to provide our capabilities: transport, logistics, industrial, agricultural. And we intend to make a positive contribution to the development of this organization,” Vladimir Makei emphasized.
He drew attention to the fact that the SCO is becoming a multifunctional organization, where cooperation is discussed in various areas - from political to humanitarian. “Concrete projects and initiatives are being discussed, which are aimed at the future and which are very important for Belarus. We have where to make efforts there. Membership in this organization provides broad, ambitious prospects for our country,” the minister said.
