Majlis of Kazakhstan approves amendments to agreement with Uzbekistan on border crossing points
On 18 March, MPs of the Kazakh parliament approved ratification of a protocol on introduction changes and amendments to the protocol of the agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on crossing points at the state borders of two states.
The protocol envisages inclusion of Maktaaral station to list of crossing points at the Uzbek-Kazakh state border.
The point allows to transportation of Kazakh cargo from Syrdarya water reservoir with use of transit railway area of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek side does not allow to transit Kazakh trains on this direction as the Maktaaral point was not included to the protocol. After the signing protocol, the problem was solved.
The document envisages cutting number of automobile crossing points from 10 to 6 crossing points.
