Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Strikes Afghanistan, Tremors Felt in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Republican Center for Seismic Forecasting and Monitoring reported an earthquake recorded on the territory of Afghanistan.

According to the center, the seismic event occurred on 13 February 2026 at 03:12:08. The earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5, with the hypocenter located at a depth of around 100 km. The epicenter was situated in Wardak Province at coordinates 34.45° north latitude and 68.21° east longitude.

Seismic tremors were also felt in Uzbekistan. In the Surkhandarya Region, the intensity of shaking reached 2–3 points, with the distance to the epicenter estimated at about 322 km.

In the Kashkadarya Region, the tremors were assessed at 2 points, while the distance to the epicenter was approximately 534 km.

The distance from the earthquake’s epicenter to Tashkent was 763 km in a southwesterly direction. No reports of damage or casualties have been received from within Uzbekistan.
