Lithuania includes Uzbekistan in the list of priority development partners

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Lithuania, Kadambay Sultanov, held a video conference meeting with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Mantas Adomenas, Dunyo news agency reported.

A wide range of issues of Uzbek-Lithuanian cooperation was discussed, including practical steps aimed at raising the level of political dialogue, including through the inter-parliamentary line and within the framework of international multilateral structures, further building up trade, economic and investment and technological cooperation, increasing the volume of financial and technical assistance Uzbekistan, expansion of the legal framework regulating various areas of bilateral relations and more.

Mantas Adomenas said that Vilnius positively assesses the profound transformations in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was especially emphasized that Uzbekistan is becoming the most important partner of Lithuania in Central Asia. In this regard, Lithuania has already included Uzbekistan in the list of priority development partners.

It was noted that such a status makes it possible to significantly increase the volume of financial, technical and grant assistance provided to Uzbekistan, including using the possibilities of various specialized programs of the European Union.

During the meeting, the schedule, agenda and level of upcoming contacts in 2023 were also discussed, as well as practical issues of the development of multifaceted Uzbek-Lithuanian cooperation were touched upon.

Lithuanian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mantas Adomenas visited Uzbekistan in September 2022 to participate in the next round of Uzbek-Lithuanian political consultations. The Uzbek side was represented by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Gairat Fazilov.
