Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility”.

According to the amendments, introduced by the Law to the Criminal Code, now also liability is established for the distribution of pornographic products, as well as products promoting the cult of violence and cruelty, in the media, telecommunications networks or the Internet (previously, liability was established for the distribution, advertising, demonstration of these products ).

Also, the punishment in the form of imprisonment for libel and insult under aggravating circumstances has been canceled.

Now libel (part 3 of article 139) is punishable by a fine of up to 500 basic estimated values (111 million 500 thousand soums) or restriction of liberty up to 3 years (previously, liability was established in the form of restriction of freedom up to 3 years or imprisonment up to 3 years.);

Insult (part 3 of article 140) is punishable by a fine of up to 600 basic estimated values (133 million 800 thousand soums) or restriction of liberty for up to one year (previously, liability was established in the form of imprisonment for up to one year).
