Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The law "On introducing additions to the Code of administrative responsibility in connection with the establishment of responsibility for obstructing legitimate medical activities of medical workers" considered at the thirty-seventh plenary session of the Uzbek Senate today.
In particular, it was noted that recently there have been increased cases of attacks on health workers by patients and their close relatives, in which unfounded accusations were made against health workers in worsening the health of patients or their deaths, and there have been cases of attacks on doctors and nurses without any reason.
The law seeks to address the above-mentioned problems.
The Code of Administrative Responsibility establishes separate liability for obstructing the lawful medical activity of a health professional or, for that purpose, unlawfully influencing a health professional in any form.
Such an offence is punishable by a fine of between five and seven times the basic calculation unit for citizens and a fine of between seven and ten times the calculation unit for officials or administrative detention for up to 15 days.
Article 1977 of the Code of Administrative Liability also establishes that cases of obstructing the lawful medical activity of a medical worker or, to that end, unlawfully influencing a medical worker in any way.
In addition, it was noted that under Article 305 of the Code, the time limit for the examination of cases in this category is three days.
It is noteworthy that the Code of Practice 305 has been amended to make it more effective in this regard.
The senators noted that the adoption of this Law will protect the rights of health workers and prevent interference in their professional activities, increase prestige and status of the medical profession, to provide citizens with timely and quality medical care.
The law was approved by the senators.
