Legislative Chamber Approves Law on Licensing Phytosanitary Disinfection

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has approved in the second reading a law regulating the licensing of phytosanitary disinfection activities.

The law introduces modern methods for phytosanitary treatment, allows such activities to be conducted by legal entities, and creates more favorable conditions for importers and exporters of agricultural products. All measures are required to use methods safe for human health and the environment.

The responsible committee noted that, ahead of the second reading, the draft law was refined based on suggestions from working group members and deputies.

Provisions duplicating another draft law aimed at aligning legislation with WTO requirements—particularly regarding key concepts, powers, duties, rules, and quarantine procedures—were removed.

Following the session, deputies adopted the law in its second reading.
