Legislative Chamber approves bill on new waste collection payment mechanism
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has approved a bill introducing new payment mechanisms for waste collection and disposal services.
The bill, which underwent extensive discussions at working group meetings involving representatives from relevant ministries, agencies, legal experts, and specialists, was refined with the principle of "putting people's interests first" in mind.
Under the bill, consumers will have five days to settle any outstanding payments for waste disposal services after receiving an SMS notification. If the debt remains unpaid, legal measures will be applied, including a temporary restriction on electricity payments.
The bill also strengthens consumer rights protection and introduces accountability for waste disposal organizations regarding accurate billing. In cases of violations, consumers will be entitled to compensation.
The adoption of the bill aims to improve the payment mechanisms and enhance the quality of waste disposal services.
The bill was approved by deputies in the third reading.
