Legal Issues Related to the Stay of Uzbek Citizens in the Czech Republic Discussed in Prague
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Prague held a working meeting with Petr Zikmund, Head of the National Document Control Centre (Národní centrum pro kontrolu dokladů) of the Directorate of the Czech National Police, according to Dunyo News Agency.
Established in 2020, the National Document Control Centre specializes in detecting forged, altered, or improperly used documents, as well as in collecting and analyzing relevant data.
The main objective of the Centre is to enhance the capabilities of the police and other authorities in combating such violations through the modernization of equipment and the training of personnel. The Centre maintains a unified registry of document specimens issued both by the Czech Republic and by foreign countries.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented samples of Uzbekistan’s official state documents, including international passports, national identity cards, certificates of return to the homeland, and other official documents used in administrative and consular practice.
The parties discussed migration-related issues, including labor migration, document verification procedures, information exchange, and the protection of the rights of Uzbek citizens residing in the Czech Republic. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of regular data exchange to prevent document fraud.
Uzbek diplomats provided detailed information on consular services, the issuance of various certificates, and national requirements governing procedures for changing citizens’ names and surnames.
For its part, the Czech side confirmed its readiness to monitor all international airports in the country, record cases of entry refusal, and provide statistical data upon official request.
Clarifications were also provided regarding notification procedures for diplomatic missions in cases involving the detention or deprivation of liberty of foreign nationals.
As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to further expand practical cooperation in the field of document verification, continue regular information exchange, and maintain direct working contacts between the competent authorities of the two countries.
