Leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Hold Phone Call

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation on March 5 with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

At the beginning of the call, the Uzbek leader strongly condemned drone attacks on the territory of Azerbaijan and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

During the conversation, the sides particularly emphasized that the sharp escalation of tensions observed in recent days in the Middle East has resulted in numerous civilian casualties and is causing serious concern.

It was noted that such events, occurring during the holy month of Ramadan, contradict universal human values, international norms, and the principles of territorial integrity of states.

The Uzbek leader also expressed gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for the measures being taken and the conditions created to ensure the safe evacuation of citizens of Uzbekistan from Iran through the territory of Azerbaijan.

For his part, the President of Azerbaijan thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the friendly conversation and support during a difficult time.
