Lawyer Detained in Tashkent Region for Attempted Bribery

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —In Tashkent Region, a lawyer from a local law firm was detained by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan while receiving US$10,000 in an attempted bribery case.

According to the investigation, the lawyer promised a local resident that he could use his connections within the judicial system to alter a previously issued court sentence, reducing a two-year prison term to a restriction of freedom.

A criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are currently underway.

The State Security Service emphasized that citizens can report similar offenses by calling the short number 1520, with full confidentiality guaranteed.
