Lawmakers approved a bill aimed at preventing air pollution
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis discussed a bill in its first reading aimed at preventing air pollution and increasing the responsibility of construction organizations.
It was noted that with the growing scale of construction and urbanization, the lifting of dust and sand particles from construction sites by wind leads to deteriorating air quality. However, the current legislation lacks specific provisions regulating liability for dust emissions in the context of air protection and urban planning standards.
In this regard, the bill proposes the introduction of responsibility for officials who violate air protection rules at construction sites. The State Environmental Control Inspection will be responsible for detecting such violations and holding offenders accountable.
Violations will be recorded both visually and using specialized equipment, such as an aspirator, which measures air pollution levels in accordance with established sanitary regulations.
Lawmakers are confident that the adoption of this bill will ensure the realization of citizens’ right to clean and health-safe air and prevent haphazard dust and sand emissions into the atmosphere.
As a result of discussions, the deputies conceptually approved the bill in the first reading.
