Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Employees of the State Security Service for Namangan region carried out a multi-stage operational event to suppress the activities of an illegal group engaged in smuggling foreign currency across the state border through the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to foreign countries.
First, a Lacetti car was stopped, moving towards the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, in which there were brothers - residents of the Kasansay district of the Namangan region, born in 1985 and 1992. During the search of the interior of the car, a plastic bag containing US$205,600 was found, in two synthetic bags – US$836,300 and US$800,000, respectively. In total, US$1,841,900 were seized, which were processed in a procedural manner.
Operational work was continued in order to identify persons supplying currency values. Thus, a person, born in 1989, engaged in entrepreneurial activities in the Kasansay region, was detained. The interior of his Malibu car was searched and US$$167,100 was found.
As a result of operational actions, a total of US$2,009,000 was prevented from illegally exporting from our country.
Currently, criminal cases have been initiated on all the facts, and an investigation is underway.
