Kyrgyzstan to supply Uzbekistan with 550 million kWh of electricity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kyrgyzstan started supplying electricity to Uzbekistan starting from 15 December 2017, UzA news agency reported.

Deliveries of electricity to Uzbekistan began in accordance with an agreement signed in Tashkent on 5 October 2017 during the visit of the then President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.

According to the agreement, Kyrgyzstan will supply 550 million kW / h of electricity to Uzbekistan from December 2017 to March 2018.

To date, 3.7 million kW / h have been delivered to Uzbekistan, and the daily volume of supply is increasing.

The power system of Uzbekistan works in interrelation with the energy systems of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and other CIS countries. Energy systems of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are also connected.

In the future, to increase the supply of energy to Afghanistan, it is planned to build a 500-kilovolt line in Surkhandarya region. In addition, Uzbekenergo plans to establish cooperation with Tajikistan’s energy system. By now, Uzbekistan has prepared 220 and 500 kV lines.

The power system of Tajikistan is implementing projects aimed at using emergency control and relay protection. After the completion of these projects in 2018, it is planned to establish parallel operation of power systems.

Cooperation with the energy system of Turkmenistan is also planned, which will make it possible to use the energy system of Uzbekistan for the transit of Turkmen electricity to other regions.
