Uzbekistan 30/12/2024 Kusherbayev: Families of victims of "Doc-1 Max" and "Ambronol" have not received full compensation

Kusherbayev: Families of victims of "Doc-1 Max" and "Ambronol" have not received full compensation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Families of the victims affected by the "Doc-1 Max" and "Ambronol" medications have yet to receive full compensation, according to Rasul Kusherbayev, advisor to the Minister of Ecology and former deputy.

In a statement on his Telegram channel, Kusherbayev recalled the tragic events of December 2022, when approximately 70 children in Uzbekistan died after consuming the "Doc-1 Max" and "Ambronol" medicines produced by Indian company Marion Biotech.

Kusherbayev emphasized that some of the affected children have been left with severe disabilities and require prolonged treatment. However, due to financial constraints, they cannot access necessary medical procedures.

He cited court rulings issued in February 2024, which ordered compensation payments of: 1 billion soums for each child in extremely critical health conditions, 500 million soums for four children in stable conditions, and 200 million soums for eight children showing signs of improvement.

Additionally, following a court decision in November, five children who suffered life-threatening injuries were each awarded 1 billion soums in compensation.

"However, these compensations have still not been fully paid. The lives of some children depend on receiving these funds on time. These treatments could restore sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, or help those unable to walk regain their mobility," Kusherbayev stated.

He criticized the lack of accountability, adding, "The responsible officials seem to have forgotten about the fate of these children. The officials accountable for the children’s deaths have yet to apologize to the public! Or perhaps they simply chose to forget. If so, we remind them again."
