Korosteleva: "The SCO is one of the leading organizations in the field of international information security"

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The SCO is one of the leading organizations in the field of international information security, the Head of the Department of Bilateral and Regional Cooperation in the Field of International Information Security of the Department of International Information Security of the Russian Foreign Ministry Yulia Korosteleva said during the scientific and practical "SCO Forum on Information Security" held today in Tashkent.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the work of the SCO Group of Experts on International Information Security within the framework of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the Organization. Thus, it was possible to carry out active work to promote the approaches of the SCO in the international arena, relying, first of all, on fair and equal principles of information security for all its participants.

In particular, during the last meeting of the Group in June 2022 in Tashkent, a number of practical initiatives were presented, which in fact represent a “program of action”. These steps are designed to intensify and increase the effectiveness of cooperation within the SCO in the field of providing IIS and to strengthen the technological and human potential of the member countries of the Organization.

According to the Russian representative, "the Organization has become the first international mechanism to develop rules for the responsible behavior of states in the information space." Traditionally, the interaction of member states within the specialized UN platforms remains at a high level. These are the open-ended working group on international information security and the Special Committee for the development of an international convention on combating the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes.

“The SCO member countries have always opposed behind-the-scenes decision-making that affects the interests of all regional groups, they have defended the principles of transparency and inclusiveness,” Yulia Korosteleva noted.
