Knowledge Exchange Program for 2022-2023 (KSP) with the Republic of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the Knowledge Exchange Program (KSP) 2022-2023 program of the Korea Development Institute (KDI), the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction (MEDPR) is implementing a project on the topic “Methods for organizing and developing the practice of regulatory sandbox (Regulatory Sandbox).”

Regulatory sandbox is a special legal regime for the experimental implementation of technologies that are not regulated by applicable law. The mechanism of "sandboxes" works like this: in the selected region for up to three years, a zone is created where an exception is made from the general legal regulation

To determine cooperation plans for this KSP 2022-2023 project, MEDPR and KDI signed an Activity Agreement on 17 October this year.

A Korean delegation of experts, including KDI officials, visited Uzbekistan to officially open this project and conduct workshops with the participation of relevant experts (including the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the Ministry of Innovative Development, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, the National Agency for Advanced projects, Association of Banks). In order to officially launch the project and discuss topics for research with high-ranking representatives and officials of interested ministries and departments, seminars were held from 22 to 25 November 2022.

This seminar started at the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research and includes the following tasks:

- Representatives of MEDPR, KDI, Korean and Uzbek experts discussed the research plan for each sub-theme, identified policy priorities and the scope of policy consultations;

- Korean experts collected relevant data and information to complete the research topic by conducting interviews and establishing cooperation with interested organizations;

- For relevant research topics, local consultants from Uzbekistan with appropriate qualifications should be involved.
