Khokim of Tashkent meets with the Governor of Ankara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 September 2020, the khokim of Tashkent, Jakhongir Artikhodjaev, met with the governor of Ankara (Turkey) Vasip Sahin.

During the conversation, which was held in a friendly manner, Jakhongir Artikhodjaev noted that the prestigious XIV Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road”, within the framework of which guests visit our country, was revived last year on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Khokim of Tashkent expressed hope that the festival, the scale and prestige of which is growing, will make a significant contribution to the development of cultural ties between our countries.

Noting with satisfaction the high interest of Turkish businessmen and investors in Tashkent and the significant contribution of Turkish specialists to the modern beautiful image of the city, Jakhongir Artikhodjaev expressed confidence in the further development of economic, cultural and political relations between the regions of our countries.

Vasip Sahin thanked for the warm welcome and stressed: Tashkent is a dynamically developing city that combines historical and cultural values and modern achievements, and the cultural and historical proximity of the Turkish and Uzbek peoples provides great strength and potential for mutual cooperation.

The governor expressed confidence that the SCO summit currently taking place in Samarkand will serve to further enhance the prestige of Uzbekistan and will be of great importance to the international community.

Vasip Sahin presented information on the economic potential of the Ankara region, the state and development of education, healthcare and other areas, noting that Ankara is the second largest region of Turkey after Istanbul with a population of 6 million people, developed industry, 22 universities, where 1.5 million students.

At the end of the meeting, Jakhongir Artikhodjaev noted the need to expand and develop joint activities in various fields, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experience in healthcare and education.
