Khabarovsk Krai and Uzbekistan Discuss Fish Export Hub and Expansion of Air Connectivity
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Governor of Russia’s Khabarovsk Krai Dmitry Demeshin held talks with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation, Botirjon Asadov, to explore new opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Governor Demeshin emphasized the strong and friendly ties that have long existed between Khabarovsk Krai and Uzbekistan in both economic and humanitarian spheres. He also noted the ambassador’s sincere admiration for the positive transformations that have taken place in Khabarovsk since his last visit four years ago.
A central focus of the discussion was the development of mutual trade. Governor Demeshin stated that Khabarovsk Krai is increasing its exports, particularly of fish products, and expressed interest in establishing a multi-temperature storage facility in Uzbekistan. This logistics hub would facilitate the export of caviar and red fish under the “Made in Khabarovsk Krai” brand not only to Uzbekistan, but also to other Central Asian countries.
The governor also highlighted the growing import of Uzbek fruits and stressed the importance of further strengthening this trade, which, he said, would bring tangible benefits to the residents of the region.
Tourism exchange was another key topic. Demeshin pointed out that direct flights currently operate between Khabarovsk and Tashkent, and that the possibility of launching additional routes—particularly to Samarkand—is under consideration.
Governor Demeshin expressed confidence in the continued development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia, stating: “Our countries are strategic partners and allies. I am confident that through joint efforts, our cooperation will only continue to grow stronger.”
