Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border: Saryagash railway crossing upgraded
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Kazakhstan is taking steps to increase the capacity of its railway crossings with neighboring countries.
According to the international news agency Kazinform, work has begun to optimize freight and passenger flows at nine railway junctions with Russia. In particular, crossings at Semiglavy Mar, Orsk, Ilek, Kartaly, and Kurkamys will see a 20% increase in capacity, reducing waiting times and boosting transportation volumes.
At the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border, the Saryagash railway crossing has undergone modernization, with new tracks already built, leading to a 12% increase in capacity.
Additionally, in 2027, a new railway line is set to be launched, further enhancing transport links between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and significantly increasing trade volumes.
