Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to open joint shopping centers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan organized a meeting with Kazakh entrepreneurs operating in the republic, according to the Kazinform news agency.

During the event, participants discussed prospects for joint projects aimed at further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Dilshod Rasulov, recalled that last year, a distribution center was opened in Aktau, through which Tashkent plans to export agricultural and food products to the Kazakh market. Additionally, this hub is expected to serve as a temporary storage facility for Uzbek goods before their shipment to other countries.

“In the summer of last year, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission took place in Kazakhstan, during which discussions were held with the mayor of Astana.

As a result of the negotiations, a memorandum was signed providing for the allocation of land plots—one in the capital of Kazakhstan for the Uzbek side, and another in Tashkent for the Kazakh side. These areas will be used for the construction of shopping centers, creating new opportunities for the sale of Uzbek products in Astana and Kazakh goods in Tashkent,” said Dilshod Rasulov.

Earlier reports indicated that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are implementing 34 joint projects worth US$4.5 billion.
