Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan held an official handover ceremony of the Shimadzu Flexavision F3 digital X-ray complex to the oncological dispensary of Tashkent region as part of the technical cooperation project "Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in Tashkent and Navoi regions " of the Official Development Assistance program of the Government of Japan.
The dispensary structure consists of a polyclinic, 10 clinical and 3 diagnostic departments, where a wide range of diagnostic studies is carried out. Currently, the dispensary has 240 beds. More than 70 doctors work in the dispensary, including 6 doctors of sciences, 10 candidates of medical sciences, 17 doctors of the highest category.
In recent years, the number of requests for diagnostics or treatment from the population to the dispensary has noticeably increased, so following the results of 8 months of this year, more than 101 077 patients are registered at the dispensary. The number of visits to the polyclinic of the dispensary exceeds 70 000 people a year.
It is expected that the Shimadzu Flexavision F3 digital X-ray complex handed over to the dispensary will further contribute to the timely detection of precancerous and cancerous pathologies and provision of highly qualified medical care to the population in the Tashkent region.
It is worth to mention also that in 2017 oncology dispenser received endoscopy within the framework of Small Scale Grant Assistance program from the Embassy of Japan to Uzbekistan that is still effectively used in this medical institution.
Also, department of "Oncology" of the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Studies and department of “Surgical Dentistry” of the Tashkent Medical Academy function on the basis of the oncological dispensary.
Delivery and installation of the second Shimadzu Flexavision F3digital X-ray complex to the central hospital of Zarafshan town is expected at the end of September this year. The total amount of funds allocated for the supply, installation of the above equipment and training of personnel of medical institutions is 401 200 Euros.
