Javlon Vakhabov appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Brazil

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States and Canada, Javlon Vakhabov, has been appointed as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Brazil, Dunyo news agency reported.

Javlon Vakhabov presented copies of the credentials of his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Brazil with residence in Washington, DC to Brazilian Ambassador to the United States Nestor Forster.

Nestor Forster congratulated the Uzbek diplomat on the new appointment and stressed that in connection with the persisting pandemic situation in Brazil, as well as in order to prevent further delays in the accreditation of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, it decided to delegate exclusively powers to the head of his diplomatic mission in the United States on behalf Foreign Office leadership copies of credentials.

During the meeting, on behalf of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, the diplomat expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the decision to appoint a representative in Brazil. According to him, this will certainly serve as a qualitative filling of the bilateral agenda. The diplomat also confirmed his readiness to make all the necessary efforts to comprehensively build up Uzbek-Brazilian relations, interest in working out joint trade and economic projects in agriculture, industry and mechanical engineering, as well as to establish partnerships in the field of personnel training.

As Nestor Forster noted, the significant achievements of Uzbekistan in the comprehensive development of the country in such a short time are impressive and significantly increase the attractiveness of the republic for foreign partners. According to him, there is a huge untapped potential in many areas between Brazil and Uzbekistan, which must be realized through joint efforts.

The Ambassador positively assessed the new conditions for doing business in Uzbekistan, the benefits and preferences provided by the Government for foreign investors interested in both entering the country’s market and importing light industry products, as well as agriculture.

It should be noted that trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Brazil is actively developing, over the past two years, the volume of trade between our countries has grown by 78%, and the export of domestic goods to the largest economy of Latin America has increased by 7 times.

Nestor Forster was also keenly interested in the current dynamics in Central Asia, in particular Uzbekistan’s good-neighborly policy in the region, aimed at establishing close relations with neighboring states, including Afghanistan, strengthening the transport and logistics interconnection of the region, as well as stimulating trade and economic ties between representatives of business community. The Ambassador congratulated on the high-level holding in Tashkent of the International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, calling it the first successful step towards the integration of two macroregions in Asia.

During the talks, the Brazilian diplomat welcomed the appeal of the Uzbek side to the Organization of American States (OAS) in order to obtain the status of an observer country. In his opinion, the participation of Uzbekistan in the processes of the OAS will contribute to the establishment of closer partnerships with the member countries of this organization.
